It was announced at the Cliffhangers jeep club meeting lastweek. Steve Baker let everyone know. I guess he sits on the oil and gas board now. It's a bummer for sure! We need to rally the crew together soon to all attend the proposal meeting for the city wanting to put a road threw the canyon, power in numbers!! We def don't want the same thing to happen to choke cherry! Jesse will let you all know when the meeting will be happening and where!!

They are calling it closed to recreational use until they can get all of the RMP and Environmental Analysis done out in Choke Cherry.  They are not planning on keeping the Rock Garden closed they just failed to have an actual RMP put aside for the Rock Garden.  From what I was told from someone within the Farmington office, it will be opened up after they can put a Recreational Management Plan together for that area.  No telling how long that will take.  I was told that they can and will issue tickets if you are seen wheeling out there but then I was also told that they are not patrolling that area.  Sounds like maybe the Sheriffs office might be giving out tickets.  I didn't ever hear of anyone getting sighted.  There is going to be a meeting with a few 4x4 reps on December 7th with the new BLM Farmington Director and we should know a little more then.  If someone from 667 would like to join us let me know and I can get you the details.

I was at this meeting and it was a proposal in planning that would/could add road and street development within a time frame of about 25 years.  The proposal to pave the main road in Choke Cherry is very unpopular and I specifically asked the BLM rep how he felt about the road being paved.  His response was that they didn't favor that at all.  From what I could see in that meeting the best option is to bring the road from Flora Vista up over the end of Foothills Drive and have it dump traffic back down onto Pinon Hills via College BLVD. past the BLM office.  From what I could see in that meeting it was not in the best interests to pave the Glade and that was very vocally voiced.  I don't think that will be a problem.  The City of Farmington has much more interest in developing the Crouch Mesa area.  I hope this helps.  I need a rep from the Rockers to get with me and I can get you involved in all of this.
