Yes its true I am finally building a new buggy I am retiring the five. My cj5 has been a great jeep for many year hanging with if not out climbing some the best buggies out there.  I thought I would start from scratch by building my own chassis at the house, but that changed with the help of the crew talking me into buying a chassis from a builder who has all ready been to a few rodeos.  So I called extreme engineering in fort collins to order up a wrath comp chassis from nick sissions.  will post pic in the next few days.

not so good at the whole pic/story thing so bare with me as the build goes on it will get better. I can already see I need to get better pics at different angles, and close ups.

With the cost always being more than expected I decided on a 5.3 for my power plant.  To bad all the 5.3s I found turned out to be 4.8s (most people don't even know what they have).  Finally all of the motor fairies showed up and gave me a low mile 6.0 for less than the so called 5.3s hell ya!  Ordered the car pan today and picking up a th400 core this weeked.

Its been a while but heres some updates.  got my new input shaft in for my mini stak t-case (th400) what should have been a one night rebuild turned into a week long ordeal with two trips to the machine shop Yell (it will fit just fine bull shit).  outfitted the motor with its new kevco pan and built some motor mounts.  I gutted the tranny so I can now get the drive train mounted in the chassie.  Once the drive train is mounted I will be able to work on getting the front suspension mocked up.  At full bump my belly sits @ 13" this should give me a 19-20" belly @ ride hight.  I might bring it down to 12" @ bump after I figure out how thick my belly pan will be.  I will get some more pic's. in the next couple of days.

here's some pics of how my rear suspension laid out. 6 1/2 inches of arm separation at the frame and 9 1/2 @ the axel. after some talk I will be changing the upper arm mount on the frame to get a little more separation (7 1/2), This will also make all of my arms very close to the same length.  These numbers should give me the anti squat needed for are f-town walls.

I have to lay out my drive train to find out where eveything will fit.  Mocking up the front supension will give me the final say where the motor will get mounted.

I will need to move my motor up some to get some more clearance for my motor mounts.  I will be running a carrier bearing front driveline so the upper link mounts need to be tight to the frame.

Time for motor mounts, with upper links so close to my motor mounts i decided to double up and put mounts off the back of the heads too.  I am not a notching ninja so there was a few minutes put into these babies to get them right.  all and all Iam happy with how they are turning out.

Motor mounts are coming out nice so I needed to bust out the FLATBILLER WATER JET and whip up some gussets for my mounts. I even water jetted some holes into them (thats what all the cool kids are doing).  I figure the weight saved by these holes should add at least 10 HP!!

had some problems with our welder this weekend had to grind out some porous welds and bad splatter (sucks).  A trip to hardware store had my problems fixed.  The motor mounts still turned out ok.

Started to fab up the motor skid plate, this skid will be removable.  The skid will bolt to my belly and tie the motor mounts together.
